Frequently Asked Questions

What genre do you write in

I tend to write dark fantasy and science fantasy. It's the easiest to write for me, but I do experiment. I tried writing horror/comedy/romance for What Not To Tell A Skeleton xD but it's just so difficult.

What made you become a writer

In ninth grade, my teacher read out a poem I wrote and everyone was impressed. I sat at the cafeteria table and swore I would become the world's best writer xD

What kind of writer are you? Pantser, Outliner?

I probably classify as both. Because I outline, then try to follow the outline.... and end up pantsing it slightly.

How much do you write each day?

I used to write 500-800 words a day xD Back when I was still super motivated.

How long did it take you to finish your first novel?

First novel... probably 6 months. Second one I started during the end of the first and finished in another 6 months.

What's your favorite part of the writing process?

Definitely improving as a writer. I like to take 7 different notebooks and write ideas on how to write better dialogue or more interesting scenes.

Are your story worlds interconnected?

Okay so! Butterflies With Vertigo was supposed to be connected with What Not To Tell A Skeleton.... There's a storm in both, you see. xD I wanted to make both storms the same person.

Who is your favorite Character?

Definitely Todd the frog! He was supposed to be a throwaway character but after having him suffer so much I ended up falling in love with him XD

What inspired you to create that character?

Not sure xD I think... I wanted a character I could easily hate xD... I don't hate frogs, I swear! Super cute creatures!

Do you play any video games? if so, what?

I am. A filthy...league player... XD Not anymore though. I like Marvel Rivals.

What kind of pen did you use?

I use different brands of pencils I find lying around cause I am a bit messy xD only a bit! Someone came into my room once and said I'm super organized which surprised me haha

Who are your favorite authors or biggest literary influences?

I LOVE Leigh Bardugo. Her writing really helps me get started when I'm in a slump and I love her character development.

                                                            **SPOILERS**

When you were deciding your character's eye colour did you take into account UV exposure for a tiefling at high altitudes and sexual dimorphism for 1/12th elf blood?

I had to research what type of glass falling from space would be radioactive. I picked silicon 32. I also had to figure out how to make snake venom to save someone in the book XD

I see, so with such a short half life as 32 how did you make sure that the radioactivity was only just radioactive enough to not wipe out everyone instantly?

It wiped out mostly everyone, but some people ate animals which enabled them to survive by having them evolve to take the radiation.

What’s the meaning behind the title of your Into a Nightmare/Butterflies With Vertigo?

Into a Nightmare is about someone turning into a nightmare :) For Butterflies With Vertigo... I'm not sure when I gave my characters vertigo... but I wanted it to be about turning your weaknesses into a strength. Not sure how I did.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you be doing?

I would probably be a voice actor!

What’s a fun fact about you that readers might not know?

Mmm... I'm not sure! But I got lost in a forest as a kid once.... and it's my favorite memory ever XD

How do you approach creating interactive or choose-your-own-adventure stories?

I make them in Google Forms :) But they are so much work! xD (says someone who wrote two novels in a year...)
